1. About SplitDinner

SplitDinner is a cost-sharing platform that connects people who cook at home with neighbors who want affordable, home-style meals. We are a marketplace intermediary, not a food provider.

2. Nature of the Service

SplitDinner facilitates neighbor-to-neighbor cost sharing for home-prepared food. This is not a restaurant service, catering service, or commercial food operation. Cooks on the platform are sharing extra portions of their home cooking to offset grocery costs.

3. Food Safety Disclaimer

Important: Meals on SplitDinner are home-prepared by individuals who are not licensed food vendors. SplitDinner does not:

  • Inspect kitchens or cooking facilities
  • Verify food handler certifications
  • Guarantee food safety or quality
  • Verify ingredient claims or allergen information

By using this service, you accept full responsibility for your decision to consume home-prepared food from other users.

4. User Responsibilities

For Cooks:

  • You confirm you are sharing home-prepared food for cost recovery, not operating a commercial food business
  • You agree to accurately describe your meals, including ingredients and dietary information
  • You will maintain reasonable food safety practices
  • You will respond promptly to buyer messages and fulfill confirmed orders

For Buyers:

  • You understand and accept that meals are home-prepared, not from a licensed restaurant
  • You are responsible for reviewing meal descriptions and asking about allergens or dietary concerns
  • You will pick up or receive deliveries as arranged
  • You will treat cooks with respect

5. Payments

Payments are processed through our secure payment providers. Funds are held by the platform and released to cooks upon order completion. Tips are optional and go 100% to the cook.

6. Refunds

  • Cook cancels: Buyer receives credit to their platform wallet
  • Buyer no-show: No refund
  • Quality disputes: May be eligible for partial refund at platform discretion

7. Limitation of Liability

SplitDinner acts solely as a marketplace intermediary. We are not responsible for:

  • The quality, safety, or legality of meals listed
  • The accuracy of meal descriptions or dietary claims
  • Any illness or injury resulting from consuming meals
  • Disputes between users

8. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for information on how we collect, use, and protect your data.

9. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
